Formula 1 drivers Michael Schumacher & Nico Rosberg showoff their new hybrid bikes

Formula 1 drivers Michael Schumacher & Nico Rosberg are normally flying around race tracks in ultra fast race cars, but to get around the paddock they needed something a bit smaller and slower.

Meet the new Smart ebike which is of course a human/electric hybrid bike.

According to Mercedes-Benz (the owner of Smart), "As a pedelec (Pedal Electric Cycle) the smart ebike is strictly speaking a hybrid vehicle: the electric motor switches on as soon as the rider starts pedaling. Muscle power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a lubricant-free, durable and quiet belt drive in place of a conventional bicycle chain."

Lance Armstrong's former TdF rival banned for two years from pro cycling for doping

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has suspended 1997 Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich for years for blood doping.

The court ruled that Ullrich was "fully engaged" in the doping program of Spanish doctor Eufemiano Fuentes that was exposed in the 2006 Operation Puerto probe.

Ouch: another video disses the stuff that SH@# Cyclist say....

Ryan Van Duzer is a cyclist and TV Host and all around funny guy. So naturally the Boulder, Colorado based Renaissance man has jumped on the SH@# Cyclist say bandwagon and created this entertaining video.

So far we have Melanie McQuaid with her version of SH@# Triathletes say HERE and now we have the video below that lampoons cyclist.

OK, we just need the runners and swimmers to get in the act, and we'll have a full set of SH@# amateur endurance athletes say videos.

Video of the day: The brand new Cervelo P5 is officially here

Cervelo P5 has just launched the brand new P5 with the theme for the bike being "Simply Faster." Cervelo says that the new P5 is the "the most advanced and the most aerodynamic triathlon bike."

We're betting that BMC might disagree with that statement as they also have a very new and very aero TM01 that's now hitting the bike shops. We'll let you be the judge. Check out the official P5 launch video above.

Gene Hackman struck by car while cycling in the Florida Keys

Two-time Academy Award actor Gene Hackman was struck by a car while biking in Islamorada, Florida, according to the Florida State Highway Patrol.

The 81-year-old Hollywood movie star was not wearing a helment when he was hit from behind by a Toyota Tundra pickup in the Florida Keys.

According to CNN.com Hackman was transported via life-flight to the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami where he was examined and released.

His agent characterized his injuries as minor bumps and bruises.

Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Video: Frank & Andy Schleck put on the spot by silly Japanese Interview

Sometimes sports stars can take themselves very seriously...at least when it comes to their chosen profession. In this hilarious Japanese interview the Tour De France cycling stars Frank & Andy Schleck are asked questions silly like:

"Who of who is who of you?"

and

"so tell please all about the tour of the France?"

Why the bad grammar? Because this interview is funny spoof for Japanese TV. But don't worry the interview and video is in English. According to the description of the video:

"Ushi Hirosaki of Tokyo Broadcasting, is a Japanese interviewer. Together with her partner Hiromi Tojo she travels around the world to surprise international stars with her shameless questions."

Acura race report: American riders rule the podium at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge

Fifteen years into his career, Levi Leipheimer may be riding at his career best. Rebounding from a disappointing result at the Tour de France, Leipheimer won his third stage race this season Sunday with an 11-second win at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

While Daniel Oss (Liquigas) of Italy won the 70.9-mile final stage of the 518-mile inaugural race from Golden that included six five-mile finishing circuits in 2 hours, 27 minutes and 8 seconds, Leipheimer placed seventh to complete the inaugural weeklong race in which he led twice for and for a total of five days.

Leipheimer, 37, a Montana native who lives in Santa Rosa, Calif., and rides for RadioShack, assumed his second race lead with a slim victory in the stage 3 time trial in Vail. He also won stage 1 with a burst from lead group in the uphill finish in Mt. Crest Butte to take his first race lead.

Acura race report: Andy Schleck & altitude at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — The overall standings of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge list Andy Schleck's name in an unusual place. The Luxembourg rider and three-time Tour de France runner-up is 34th overall and trails race leader Levi Leipheimer by nearly seven minutes.

Despite training for nearly two weeks at altitude, Schleck has had difficulty racing at altitude, which twice in the inaugural event has included exceeding 12,000 feet, several stages at more than 9,000 feet and the first stage at more than 10,000 feet.

But Schleck, who in July won stage 18, the Queen Stage of the Tour de France, high into the Alps, finally showcased his talents Saturday late in stage 5.

Schleck was part of a four-rider breakaway that rode at the front of most of the stage and built a five-minute lead. But with less than two miles left, Schleck went to the front alone.

Acura race report: Elia Viviani takes stage 5 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge

Elia Viviani of Italy is only a second-year pro, but he's beginning to establish himself among the renowned corps of Italian sprinters that includes Mario Cipollini to Alessandro Petacchi.

Cipollini, now retired for a few years, had 191 career victories, including a world title and more Tour of Italy wins than any rider in history.

Petacchi, now age 37 and riding for Lampre, has claimed 51 wins in grand tours, including a stage win this year in the Tour of Italy.

Viviani doesn't have anywhere near the accomplishments of his elder compatriots. But he does have similar powerful speed when a finish line is in the vicinity.

Acura race report: Christian Vande Velde healthy, happy and in contention

All professional cyclists crash. Few have had as much bad luck as Christian Vande Velde.

The 35-year-old Illinois native has had more than a dozen surgeries to repair damages from race crashes.

Vande Velde exited the Tour of Italy in 2009 and 2010 and likewise departed the 2010 Tour de France via crashes. Last month, he crashed four times in the opening week of the Tour de France but recovered, rode strongly in the final week and finished 17th overall.

With two stages remaining in the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Vande Velde is second overall, trailing race leader Levi Leipheimer by 11 seconds.

"I haven't feel this way since late 2008 or in the spring of the 2009 season," said Vande Velde, a father of two young children who nearly retired after his severe crash early in the 2009 Tour of Italy.

Two days, three mountain climbs and 176 miles of pedaling remain for Levi Leipheimer to negotiate to win the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

While Elia Viviani of Italy bolted to the front in the waning yards to claim stage 4, Leipheimer maintained his 11-second race lead Friday while finishing 24th in the main field.

"Mission accomplished today," said Leipheimer. "I defended my leader’s jersey and did so with as little work on my teammates as possible. They had to do some work but at the same time we had help from other teams that were interested in a field sprint. Today went as good as we could have hoped and we are another day closer to Denver.
