It must of been Craig Alexander's best time (7:57:44) at the this month's edition of the Melbourne Ironman that had people jumping for a crack at next year's race on the fast course. Race officials reported that the 2013 IM Melbourne to be held March 24 sold out in a record 4 minutes 57 seconds.
The women's race in Australia also produced lightning fast times with winner Caroline Steffen falling 1 minute short of the world record.
Compared to the States, triathletes down unders sold out the Melbourne race twice as fast as Ironman US Championship in New York, which was full in 11 minutes.
