Don't get us wrong...Being based in Boulder, Colorado at an altitude of over 5000 feet above sea level we certainly understand the racing benefits of hypoxic (without air) training.
In the interesting video below this triathlete says that the way to "take you training to the next level," is to go completely hypoxic for an indoor training session includes the swim, the bike, the run and a few other exercises like working the punching bag...which he demonstrates.
We're not disputing the value of the hypoxic training, we're just not sure that triathletes want to be identified with a mask that makes them look like the eager servant of the evil Stars Wars Sith Lord...in our opinion.
Who knows, perhaps Darth Vader was trying to simulate high altitude training....to get ready for a Space Triathlon.
But don't we already have a questionable reputation for taking training and racing beyond what most people consider sane?
And now this....Oh my!
Check it out below.
What do you think?
Would you wear this mask training to get faster or are we just being high altitude snobs? Please let us know in the comments below.
