Editor's Note: In the last few days of 2010 we're pleased to feature some of the most interesting and noteworthy stories of the year. Today we continue with a little bike ride from Denver, Colorado that featured Lance Armstrong leading thousands of other cyclist for a mid afternoon spin through downtown.
When Lance Armstrong rides a bike thousands of people want to join him, so when Lance Armstrong decided that Colorado needed a stage bike race important people listened.
One of those important people was Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, who (BTW) is also an avid cyclist.
A few phone calls and a few lunches later, the Quiznos Pro Challenge was born. Slated for for August 22-28, 2011, the new pro bike race will be the first big Colorado stage race since the demise of the Coors International Bicycle Classic, which ran from 1979-1988.
The Governor of Colorado, and Lance Armstrong debuted the race and the big question on everyone's mind was will Lance ride?
