We want to congratulate 2008 Olympic triathlete Jarrod Shoemaker for being to elected the USAT Athlete Advisory Council. We recently had the chance to chat with Jarrod, and this new national role for him seems like a great fit for him.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four members of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors were re-elected and one candidate was newly elected to the board - all will begin serving three-year terms in 2011 - the USA Triathlon Nominating and Governance Committee announced on Thursday.
Members re-elected include current Board President and Florida Region Representative Brian Harrington (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Southwest Region Representative Vince O'Brien (Valley Village, Calif.) and Elite Athlete Representatives Dave Kuendig (Lexington, Ky.) and Victor Plata (Sacramento, Calif.).
Joining the board for the first time will be Mideast Region Representative Kevin Smeltzer (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Additionally, USA Triathlon National Team member and 2008 Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker (Maynard, Mass.) was elected to the Athlete Advisory Council.
Also, Southeast Region Representative and former USA Triathlon President Rob Kasper (Peachtree City, Ga.) will complete his term limit at the end of this year. His replacement will be appointed by the board.
Elections were held from Aug. 1-Oct. 1 with USA Triathlon annual members electing representatives for their respective region. Elite athletes selected both the Elite Athlete Representatives and the Athlete Advisory Council position.
