In 2008 it poured during the Ironman World Championship Awards Ceremony. This year, at least the rain waited until after awards. It was a beautiful warm Hawaiian night where memorable speeches were made, tears were shed and good food and friends were in abundance.
But maybe 5 minutes after it wrapped up, the clouds exploded with torrential downpours. That, however, didn't stop the crowds from finding post-race parties a few blocks down. The energy was still high and many pros, age-groupers, spectators, coaches, friends, family, etc, wanted to enjoy their time together, no more stress of the race weighing them down.
