The words used to describe endurance sports like running or cycling are words like, tough, hard, painful, and demanding.
The word fun and endurance sports usually don't go together. Yes, some would describe a marathon as fun and 10K swim as enjoyable, but they tend to be far and few between.
Well wouldn't you know it but the Japanese have managed to combine endurance and fun.
This is the Skycycle at Washuzan Highland Park in Okayama, Japan and it is a pedal-powered roller coaster.
The roller coaster takes advantage of the naturally hilly topography of the landscape and you have to admit that the side-by-side tandem pedal-powered carts with seat belts, and a cute pink basket are an interesting touch.
The only real unresolved issue is which burns more calories?
Pedaling the carts up the inclines or screaming when they come flying back down.
Just another new Japanese hybrid that combines two seemingly disparaging words such as fun and endurance into a neatly wrapped, pink basket clad, somewhat strange, athletically challenging package.
