With 2008 almost officially in the record books we thought you would
enjoy hearing from the most newsworthy endurance athletes of the year.
Over the next few days, as the year draws to a close, we'll feature the most interesting and entertaining interviews with the athletes that made news this year.
Today we continue with an athlete who raced Kona this year, ended up on the podium, and cover the 144 miles using only his arms.
When you think about it racing the Ironman World Championships in Kona in a wheelchair, and hand cycle is no different from racing the traditional way.
You still have to cover some 144 miles, plus you still have to make all of the time cutoffs.
You still have to swim 2.4 miles, and you still have to worry about your fitness, nutrition and hydration.
You just have to cover all of that ground using you arms.

If that sounds pretty grueling just ask Jason Fowler (www.jasonfowlerracing.com), who came in second in the hand cycle division at this year’s Ironman World Championship race.
I was fortunate enough to speak with Jason recently about what it is like to race one of the world’s most grueling races using only arms.
We talked about this year’s race, and how Jason found himself competing for the top podium position. If you are a fan of triathlon and Ironman, you’ll be sure to listen to this Bonus Kona edition of the Everyman Endurance Podcast.
