On Wednesday we feature the World's 10 Interesting & Unusual Bike races.
Our goal is to travel the world with you in search of the most unusual, fun, and interesting races from Peoria to Peking.
Today we travel to....
Actually---today we interrupt our normal scheduled program (for the holidays) and instead we bring you the Annual Las Vegas Santa Run from just a few weeks ago.
From event's web site:
"This year was a Las Vegas Great Santa Run to remember, as over 6,000 Santas came out to support Opportunity Village and participate in one of the city’s most memorable events.
Editor's Note: Opportunity Village is a self-funded private not-for-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities and the families who love them.
This year, we had some very special guests and some surprising twists!
As the start to our Santa Run approached, Las Vegas favorites Siegfried & Roy gave a special appearance that would turn into so much more. Mayor Oscar Goodman, (accompanied by the Champagne Showgirls), jumped into his “Mayor-Mobile”, a red convertible Ferrari and Siegfried & Roy hopped into a blue convertible Bentley GT, provided by Fantasy Car Share of Las Vegas. Upon arrival of the Starting Line, our Santas were greeted with a tear jerking performance of God Bless America by Ellie Smith.
Against Doctor’s orders, Roy not only drove down to the Start Line, but before his arrival to the stage, he got out of the Bentley and announced that he wanted to partake in the Kris Kringle Jingle with the other Opportunity Village supporters. He walked almost 2 full miles in honor of the event! It was a very inspirational moment for everybody involved with the Santa Run and speaks volumes of Siegfried & Roy’s dedication to Opportunity Village and making a difference in our community"
