Chrissie Wellington and her new coach Simon Lessing were busy today getting Wellington fitted for a fast bike fit at Colorado Multisport in Boulder, Colorado.
Wellington, a two time Ironman World Champion, said she's hoping to move to Boulder next month if she can get her Visa sorted out to begin her training with Lessing (her new coach).
Lessing, who recently retired from the professional triathlon, said he looks forward to working with Wellington. He added that his new coaching company (Boulder Coaching) has the depth of expertise that Wellington needs to grow her career.
Lessing said that Wellington will also utilize the services of his coaching partner Darren De Reuck who has been coaching runners for almost 20 years. De Reuck is well known as the training partner, coach, and husband of 4-time Olympian Colleen De Reuck.
Lessing is one of the most decorated triathletes in the sport. He set course records at the Escape from Alcatraz (Olympic distance), Wild Flower (Half Ironman) and Lake Placid (Ironman) events. His career highlights include: 4-time World Triathlon Champion (Olympic distance) as well as dozens of podiums in a long and distinguished career.
Wellington said she looks forward to utilizing the many running and biking trails that Boulder and the surrounding communities, hills, and mountains have to offer.
She received a cold introduction to her new training town this week as Denver and the surrounding communities broke a 100-year-old record for the cold weather. On Tuesday temperatures in Denver dropped to -8 and tied a record from 1897.
Wellington is currently training in Switzerland.
