“It is better to be pissed off than to be pissed on,” John Blaze (AKA Blazeman) likes to say.
You may recall the Blazeman’s valiant race from last year’s Ironman world championships where John raced with ALS to raise money and awareness for his disease.
We are very happy to announce that the newest member of Team raceAthlete is the Blazeman. We have teamed up to help him in this worthy cause. The Blazeman exemplifies all that is best about endurance sports. His is a journey that tests the true limits of the mind, body, and spirit.

I ran track with John in high school, Jenn frey and I ran with the boys team when coach Seal thought we needed motivation and I always remember John enjoying himself, and giving us a hard time. He was one of the few that thrived to be the best, if it were swimming or track he pushed himself. I remember he would run miles BEFORE track practice started. Sat. night I was wathcing Iron man 2006 Hawaii and I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and I heard his name and I said to my kids I know a John Blaze, so I walked into the living romm and sure enough it was him. I called Jenn while I was watching the tribute to him, and inspirational and sadden tears were rolling down my face. I was in disbelief that his death had accured, to Johns family I am so sorry to hear of this tragic loss you must be so proud of him, and keeping his memory alive. I would hope that after anyone sees the tremendous courage that John had that the world should appreciate life a little more... we know John did!!! John I am so proud of your wonderful spirit, you will be missed!!!! Your running buddy, Hector....
