The long runnnig Sydney Dextro Energy Triathlon is no more as this statement from the USM website today explains:
It is with much regret that USM EVENTS advises the tenure of the Dextro Energy Triathlon Sydney has come to an end, after the principal funding body, the NSW Government have not taken the option to extend the agreement.
Despite the best efforts of all parties involved, the International Triathlon Union and Triathlon Australia were unable to convince the government that the Sydney event would be able to meet their objectives, and economic impact they required for their substantial investment.
Following a thorough review of the event over the past three years, it was concluded, not to be sustainable to conduct a triathlon in the CBD, due to the logistical complexities, impact on the city and ongoing financial investment required.

According to Men's Health Magazine they are certainly not Ironman races.
Recently the men's health and lifestyle magazine ranked what they consider the best triathlon races in the U.S.
What are the Top 20 races?
They include several triathlon in California and Florida like the long standing Escape from Alcatraz and Wildflower races.
They also include the Boulder Peak Triathlon which is an Ironman event. Ironically the only IM race that they put into the top 20 is Ironman St. George...which no longer exists.

Aussie pro triathlete Brad Kahlefeldt has been hospitalized in San Diego with a suspected case of Tuberculosis. The diagnosis and illness may jeopardizes his training and even his chance to race at the London 2012 Olympics.
Kahlefeldt was hospitalized after finishing 24th at the ITU race in San Diego on Sunday after complaining of chest pain.
