Review: the new 2012 Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid is sexy, but will it carry a bike?

The 2012 Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid is like no other car on this earth. It is stunningly beautiful, very expensive, and if you plug it in every night and don't drive over 40 miles, it can also be very green.

It is the first green luxury sports sedan that is solely propelled only by two electric motors. Of course the Karma also has a gasoline engine to charge up the battery when the juice gets low so you can drive it about 300 miles on a tank full like a traditional car.

Once upon a time in America diesel sedans were loud, dirty and slow. Many American diesel car buyers hated the slow to start and slow to sell car so much that most car manufacturers gave up on the idea of selling an American family sedan powered by diesel instead of petroleum.

Volkswagen wants to change that with the new German designed but American built Passat TDI.

With an EPA rating of 30 MPG in the City and 40 MPG on the Highway, the new Passat TDI certainly gets some of the best mileage in it's class.

But is the price you pay for that exceptional MPG a diesel car that dirty, loud and slow?

For 2012 Chevrolet has completely redesigned and renamed it's small car. The small Aveo economy car is now the brand new Chevy Sonic. The old Aveo was really a rebadged Korean that is now a bad memory in the minds of many car reviewers.

So of course the obvious question is has General Motors come out of the corner swinging with a brand new Chevrolet Sonic that can take on the likes of the very popular Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, and of course the very similar KIA Rio.

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt and the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid represent two family friendly cars that have a similar yet completely different way of saving fuel.

The Volt is both an electric car and a plug-in hybrid in that it can run on both electricity (about 40 miles) and gas.

The Camry is a more traditional hybrid in that cannot go a very long distance on just electricity but it use its electric motor in conjunction with the gas engine to go further on a gallon of gas.

Review: Two rugged Nissan trucks for the off-road triathlete

The 2012 Titan can certainly go anywhere that you are brave enough to drive the pick-up...especially if you get the off-road Pro-4X versions with the complete rock bashing kits.

The same can be said for the Titan's baby brother...the 2012 Nissan Frontier. Both will easily haul your buddies and their mountain bikes.

Both trucks are also very off-road worthy with skid plates and rugged shocks to handle everything that mother nature can throw at them.
