ROTH, Germany (February 22, 2012) - The Challenge Family global series of long distance triathlons today announced a partnership with the European Triathlon Union (ETU) that will see Challenge Kraichgau and Challenge Roth host the Long Distance Triathlon European Championships in 2012.
Challenge Kraichgau (10 June 2012) is Europe’s largest half iron distance event and will host the 2012 Kraichgau ETU Challenge Half Distance Triathlon European Championships for Elite and Age Group athletes over the 1.9km/90km/21km distance. Challenge Roth (8 July 2012) is renowned as the home of European triathlon and is the largest iron distance race in the world. Roth will host the 2012 Roth ETU Challenge Long Distance Triathlon European Championships for Elite and Age Group athletes over the 3.8km/180km/42.2km distance.

Vancouver, Canada (February 2012) - The International Triathlon Union (ITU) is pleased to announce the 42 Technical Officials who will oversee and officiate the triathlon competition at the London Olympic Games. The selected officials hail from a record number of nations, with 25 different countries represented, three more than at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Since Beijing 2008, the selected group of technical officials has overseen a combined 190 events at the ITU World Triathlon Series, World Championships and World Cups.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Triathlon legends Mark Allen, Scott Molina and Scott Tinley, who combined to win nine Ironman World Championship titles over the course of their decorated careers, highlight the fourth class of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame.
Also selected in this year's class were top age-grouper Ethel Autorino and contributors Bob Babbitt and Sally Edwards.
Allen, Molina and Tinley, along with previous USA Triathlon Hall of Fame inductee Dave Scott, are commonly referred to as triathlon's "Big Four."
All six inductees will be honored at a banquet on Thursday, May 10 at the Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego to open the ITU World Triathlon San Diego race weekend. Ticket information will be available on usatriathlon.org in the near future. This exclusive event, which has sold out in each of the past three years, will be limited to 250 attendees.

Vancouver, Canada (February, 16 2012) Spain's Roger Roca Dalmau has been awarded the 2011 ITU Duathlon World Championship title after Portugal's Sergio Silva was stripped of his gold medal following an Anti-Doping rule violation in an in-competition doping control test at the 2011 Gijon ITU Duathlon World Championships in Spain. A six-month suspension was imposed on Silva and all ranking points and prize money must be returned.
Subsequently, the results from the elite men's race have been amended with Roca Dalmau now as the gold medallist, Victor Manuel Del Corral Morales (ESP) will move to silver medal position and Benoit Nicolas (FRA) will be awarded the bronze medal. All other athletes in the 2011 Gijon ITU Duathlon World Championships men's elite race will also move up one position. All prize money will be adjusted accordingly.

Vancouver, Canada - The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced it has imposed a six-month ban on Sergio Silva, a duathlete from Portugal, after committing an anti-doping rule violation in an in-competition doping control test at the 2011 Gijon ITU Duathlon World Championships in Spain.
The ban will end on 9 May 2012 and prohibits Silva from entering or participating in any competition or activity authorised by ITU, its National Federations (NFs) and/or any other signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code.
Silva's anti-doping rule violation was a result of the presence of demethylpentilamine (DMPA), also known as methylhexaneamine (MHEA). DMPA is a stimulant and a prohibited substance according to the WADA Prohibited List and the ITU Anti-Doping Rules.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Triathlon announced today the launch of the Century Club, a program that will honor multisport athletes who have completed more than 100 triathlons over the course of their careers.
Athletes who have completed 100-plus races are asked to submit to USA Triathlon a year-by-year breakdown listing the number of events finished. All completed triathlons - domestic and international - are eligible for submission.

The sprint-distance series kicks off with the 2012 USA Paratriathlon National Championship, contested alongside the Capital of Texas Triathlon on May 28 in Austin, Texas. Paratriathlon Nationals will serve as the primary selection event for the 2012 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, on Oct. 22. BUTTE, Mont. - Mike Wolfe and Rebecca Dussault took advantage of near-perfect conditions Sunday to claim national titles at USA Triathlon's Winter Triathlon National Championship at Homestake Lodge.

Wolfe (Helena, Mont.) covered the 5-kilometer run, 10-kilometer mountain bike and 5-kilometer cross-country ski course in 1 hour, 10 minutes, 20 seconds to outdistance the field by more than three minutes.
Joining Wolfe on the men's podium were fellow Montana athletes Matt Seeley (Polson, Mont.) and Landon Beckner (Helena, Mont.), who finished in 1:13:31 and 1:13:34, respectively.
On the women's side, Dussault (Gunnison, Colo.) claimed her third USA Triathlon Winter Triathlon National Championship title in the last four years in 1:16:10. The 2010 winter triathlon world champion also finished fifth overall - regardless of gender - to earn the women's title by more than five minutes.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With national titles and Team USA spots on the line, USA Triathlon's 2012 Winter Triathlon National Championship will be held Sunday in conjunction with the Powder Hound Winter Triathlon in Butte, Mont.

WANAKA, NZ — Australia's Aaron Farlow came through a strong field to win the sixth edition of the long-course Challenge Wanaka triathlon on Saturday.
Farlow broke the tape in 8:41:53, 10 minutes ahead of defending champion Jamie Whyte of Auckland with Aucklander Kieran Doe another six minutes behind in third.
Farlow, a rising Canberra-based professional, took his first Ironman win last year in the UK and showed his class with a steady performance that brought him from three minutes behind in the swim to an emphatic win. He was clearly spent at the finish.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Triathlon Board of Directors President Bob Wendling was re-elected for a second term, and three other board members were selected to officer seats, Sunday, Jan. 15 at the organization's first board meeting of the year at Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs.
(Springfield, Va.) represents USA Triathlon's Mid-Atlantic Region. He has been involved with the sport for more than 25 years as a competitor, certified official, Mid-Atlantic Region Council representative and Board of Directors member. Wendling served as the board's treasurer before being elected president a year ago. He is the co-founder and Vice President of Management Information Services, Inc., a Washington D.C.-based economic and energy consulting company.

Vancouver, Canada (January 17, 2012) - The International Triathlon Union (ITU) is pleased to confirm the prize money for the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Series, with the total prize pool surpassing two million dollars next year.
With an overall increase of 15 per cent, prize money from the eight series events and the year-end bonus pool will total $2.06-million (all funds USD).
"Across the board we are seeing tremendous growth in our premier series - from spectators to participants to sponsors to broadcast partners and now with prize money for our elite athletes," said Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC Member. "On the back this growth, 2012 is poised to be the greatest and most exciting triathlon season to date."
