Great Britain's Triathlon World Champion Alistair Brownlee has suffered an Achilles tear just six months before the 2012 London Olympics.
The 23-year-old Brit is scheduled to race next at the San Diego World Triathlon Series in May.
"If I can get this boot off quite quickly and get training, I can get myself fit in time [for the Olympics]," Brownlee said in a recent interview.
Let's face it the modern Olympic Games are a marketing and advertising dream. Billions of people from around the world tune in to watch the Olympic spectacle, and to of course companies around the world know this.
And that includes Sega, which has just released this video of the upcoming "official" 2012 London Olympic video game. Now you too can compete like Michael Phelps in London. Best of all you need not get wet, but instead you can race in the comfort of your own living room.

A total 16 triathletes have been awarded "London 2012" Olympic Scholarships by the IOC's Olympic Solidarity's World Programme Fund.
This is the largest number of awards in ITU's history as an Olympic sport. The recipients include eight men and eight women from National Olympic Committees (NOCs) that meet the Olympic Solidarity aims.
Dutch Paralympic athlete and Ironman Hawaii finisher Monique van der Vorst has regained the use of her legs after a crash whilst training earlier this year in what doctors are calling a medical miracle.
An operation at the age of 13 to correct an ankle problem left her without feeling in her legs and wheelchair bound. During her time in rehab she was introduced to handcycling and in 2000 she competed in her first handcycle race, which she won on her debut age just 15.

It is hard to believe that a decade has passed. On September 16, 2000, triathlon made its Olympic debut in Sydney, Australia. The spectacular backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and the sport-crazy Aussies lining the streets made this an event to remember.
My road to the Olympics was not typical. I spent my youth swimming. But, unlike many of my contemporaries, I had no aspirations of competing in the Olympics. Even at a young age, I knew my capabilities; I was not Olympic swimming material. My goals were less lofty. I wanted to qualify for the Olympic trials, and in 1988 I achieved this goal in the 400 IM and 200 breast stroke.
Ten years after swimming in the Olympic trials I won my first race as a professional, the Chicago triathlon. I had dappled in some ITU draft-legal racing earlier in the year with varied success and much disdain (note: the ITU governs triathlon for the Olympics and athletes must accumulate points in their race series to be eligible to compete in the Olympics. Each country has its own system of picking athletes who have achieved enough points).
My outlook changed when I earned a spot to the 1999 World Championships in Montreal by virtue of finishing second in the Pan American qualifier a month earlier (I entered this race only because it was driving distance. Amazing how that one race changed everything). This meant, even though I had no points, I gained an automatic berth. I was the lowest ranked person in the entire field of 75 women. I placed 15th. The US coach at the time took me aside and said that he thought I had a chance of qualifying for the Olympics.
As you may remember from THIS story Sven Kramer's long-time coach took full responsibility for the Dutch super star's skating mistake which cost Kramer the gold medal in the 10,000 meter final.
After the race Kramer was furious with his coach.
Kramer made what looked like an amateurish mistake when he failed to switch lanes just about at the halfway point of the race, and was thus disqualified but he failed to make the lane change based on frantic instructions from his coach.
Kramer's coach, Gerard Kemkers, was devastated and took responsibility for the gaffe.
"We had a good talk. It's a hard time for both of us, but in the end it will be good," Kramer said today. "I've won so many races with him and that doesn't get lost in one moment," he added.

Sven Kramer's long-time coach is taking full responsibility for the Dutch super star's skating mistake which cost Kramer the gold medal in the 10,000 meter final today.
"I am furious," Kramer said after the race.
Kramer made what looked like an amateurish mistake when he failed to switch lanes just about at the halfway point of the race, and was thus disqualified.
Had he not been disqualified the world record holding speed skater would have easily won the gold medal at the 10,00 meter event.
You may recall from THIS recent story that the Dutch Speed Skater Sven Kramer certainly seems to have a short fuse.
When asked to say his name by an ABC Olympics reporter the Dutch skating super star threw a pretty Olympic sized temper tantrum by asking the reporter if she was stupid. The reporters question and Kramer's response sparked an international debate about the ignorance of Americans, as well as the ignorance of the America media.

In another display of angry temper today, Kramer hurled his sunglasses away in disgust when he was told by his coach that he had been DQ from the 10,000 meter final.

Yes, on the surface it may seem like an ignorant American NBC reporter is asking Sven Kramer, the reigning Dutch long track endurance Speed Skating champ a very basic and stupid question that she should have never asked. It should be obvious to the reporter who he is, and where he's from, and what he just won.
Talk about commitment to your sport.
Australian Star hurdler and Olympic hopeful Jana Rawlinson has had her breast implants removed in a bid to run and jump hurdles faster at the next Olympic games in London.
"I absolutely loved having bigger boobs, but finally I've grown up enough to know myself; to be honest about who I am when I look in the mirror," Rawlinson said.
"I don't want to short-change Australia either - I want to feel the most athletic I can, to know that I'm standing on the track in London the fittest I can be." (see before and after implant photo right)
