COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Triathlon today announced the dates and locations for a number of its 2013 National Championship events, providing multisport athletes from across the United States the opportunity to compete in a top-notch championship environment and earn official national champion status.
Kicking off the 2013 National Championship slate is the USA Triathlon Winter Triathlon National Championships, which will be held Jan. 27 alongside the Powder Hound Winter Triathlon in Butte, Mont., for the second straight year. Winter Nationals features a 5-kilometer trail run, a 10-kilometer mountain bike and 5-kilometer cross-country ski - all on snow.
Featuring a 1,500m swim and a 5k run, the Aquathlon National Championships event is slated for Aug. 4 at the Lake Logan Aquathlon in Canton, N.C.
The 2013 USA Triathlon Off-Road National Championships will be contested at the C Me Dirty Off-Road Triathlon on Sept. 15 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The race consists of a 600m swim, 14-mile mountain bike and 5k trail run.
2013 Long Course Triathlon Nationals and Aquabike Nationals will be held alongside the Oct. 13 Rev3 South Carolina in Anderson, S.C. The long course event features a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run, while the aquabike race includes a 1.2-mile swim and a 56-mile bike.
Additionally, the USA Triathlon Youth and Junior National Championships return to West Chester, Ohio, for a second straight year Aug. 3-4, 2013. Once again, this weekend will feature draft-legal Youth Elite and Junior Elite National Championships, a Mixed Team Relay and youth events for ages 7-15.
In addition to chasing national titles, athletes also will be competing for prized spots on Team USA at a number of USA Triathlon National Championships.
