COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Paratriathlon National Team member Melissa Stockwell is nominated for a 2012 ESPY Award in the "Best Female Athlete with a Disability" category.

Stockwell (Chicago, Ill.) was the first female American soldier in history to lose a limb in active combat and was the first Iraq War veteran to compete in the Paralympic Games when she did so as a swimmer in 2008.
Stockwell will look to defend her world title at the 2012 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in October in Auckland, New Zealand.
