One thing that I've learned from racing is that depending on the bike course, sometimes you need to change the way your bike prepared.
In other words, what works for one race may not work for the next.
Above is how my bike usually looks.
That's an aerobar mounted horizontal water bottle holder (the XLab Torpedo), with a hacked up Profile Design Razor designed to carry a bottle of electrolyte capsules (which I no longer use) and up to 10 gels.

It’s hot. Almost d@mn hot! As we approach July and the heat of the summer for most us in the States, you can’t avoid the heat. Even at 4am, some places are already 80 degrees and 80% humidity. There’s nothing wrong with a sweat fest workout in the heat, as long as you are prepared.
Sure, you need hydration, sunscreen and eye protection, but what about those rivers of sweat pouring down your face? Most of us have been there. Running or riding along (usually isn’t as much of a problem in the pool) and you have to use your jersey or shirt to constantly wipe your face and eyes. Sometimes it stings your eyes, and other times is covers your sunglasses making it hard to see where you are going.

Kitzbühel, Austria (June 24, 2012) - All eyes were on Alistair Brownlee in his comeback race and he made certain to impress while re-asserting his position as the gold medal favourite at the London Olympic Games. The reigning ITU World Champion produced a masterful performance in Kitzbühel today, punctuated by an eye-popping 29:51 10km run split, and ascended back to the top of the podium for the 12th time in an ITU World Triathlon Series race. The result resoundingly answered questions around his Achilles injury.
"Obviously I couldn't have done much better today, there's always a bit of uncertainty so it was good just to get out there and see how it worked," said Alistair after the race.
Younger brother Jonathan Brownlee finished second, his third consecutive podium, after wins in San Diego and Madrid. Spain's Javier Gomez also made a successful return from illness and took bronze.
Kitzbühel, Austria (June 19, 2012) - Swiss star Nicola Spirig cemented her position as an Olympic medal favourite after powering to her second straight victory in the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Series today in Kitzbühel, Austria and continued her torrid winning streak after recording wins at the European Championships and Madrid.
"It was almost a perfect race for me," said Spirig. "I had a really good swim, I was really happy with it. The bike was good, we were a small group and people were working so we had quite a comfortable lead in the end and after that I felt really comfortable on the run."
In a ferocious running battle with five other women, Spirig edged out Sweden's Lisa Norden who successfully returned from injury to take her place on the Kitzbühel podium once again. Andrea Hewitt out-dueled Chile's Barbara Riveros Diaz for the bronze, yet another podium for the Kiwi superstar.

A new study has debunked the notion that breastfeeding mom's who exercise somehow harm or slowdown their baby's growth.
"Based on what we know at the moment, babies of mums who exercise do not gain less weight than babies of mothers who do not exercise," said lead researcher Amanda Daley of the University of Birmingham in Britain, whose findings were published in the journal Pediatrics on Monday.
