Not surprisingly Andy Potts was the first triathlete out of the water today in St. Croix. He was also the first man across the finishline, but he had to chace down Lance Armstrong to win the today's Ironman 70.3 St. Croix race.
Armstrong put on a show of cycling dominance by passing Potts and the rest of the field on the bike and coming out of T2 is first place with a 2:11 advantage over Potts and French triathlete Stephane Poulat.
But on the last loop of the run both Potts and Poulat passed Armstrong who finished on the podium in a strong third place.
"My oh my, that was a doozy. Congrats to @andy_potts on his tremendous win. Homeboy ran like a gazelle," Armstrong tweeted after the race.
