St. Petersburg, Fla. (April 29, 2012) – Sarah Haskins and Filip Ospaly successfully defended their titles at the 2012 St. Anthony’s Triathlon on Sunday. Haskins and Ospaly, who won the titles a year ago, also broke course records in both the men’s and women’s professional races which drew one of the largest pro fields in the event’s 29-year history.
Haskins, 31, won her fourth title in the past five years and her third in a row. She was in control for most of the race and bested her nearest competitor by more than two minutes, clocking in at 1:56:55. The previous women’s record was 1:57:45.

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. - Patrick Parish and Gail Kattouf clinched overall national titles in the standard-distance event, while Greg McNeil and Patty Peoples won the sprint-distance race Saturday at USA Triathlon's 2012 Duathlon National Championship
Parish (Bloomington, Minn.) was the top U.S. finisher on the 5-kilometer run, 35-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run course with a time of 1:23:06. He finished 12 seconds behind overall winner Lionel Sanders of Ontario, Canada, who clocked in at 1:22:54. Matthew Payne (Columbia Heights, Minn.) was third in 1:25:42, and last year's overall champion Dave Slavinski logged a time of 1:25:50 to finish fourth overall and round out the national championship podium.

Today, Ironman announced changes to Ironman St. George. Starting in 2013, the event will be converted to an Ironman 70.3 and will consist of a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run.
“We’ve listened to our athletes and they’ve told us that while they love St. George — the people, the community and surroundings — St. George does not work for them as a full-distance Ironman,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer of Ironman. “Our belief is that St. George will flourish as a 70.3 and we are pleased that we are continuing our relationship with St. George and with the state of Utah.”

Pro Ironman Triathlete Linsey Corbin is at home in Missoula, Montana. That's because Missoula is her hometown. Check out this video (produced by our friend Dave Erickson) as Linsey wins the Grizzly Triathlon in Missoula on April 21, 2012.
BTW: Linsey also set a new course record in the process.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fourteen defending national champions and five duathletes of the year highlight a field of nearly 600 athletes set to compete Saturday in Tucson/Oro Valley, Ariz., at the 2012 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championship.
Ventana Medical Systems will once again host duathletes seeking titles in both standard-distance (5-kilometer run, 35-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run) and sprint-distance (2.5k run, 17k bike, 2.5k) events, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The Paraduathlon National Championship will also take place as part of the sprint-distance event. New this year is a free Kids Fun Run, which will be held on Friday at 5:45 p.m.

Trevor Wurtele of Canada won this year's shortened Ochsner Ironman 70.3 in New Orleans after high winds forced the cancellation of the swim portion of the race. Wurtele's won the race in a time of 3:23.51.
On the women's side American triathlete Sarah Piampiano crossed the finishline first in a winning time of 3:43.58. She won the race by 5 seconds ahead of second place finisher Heather Wurtele of Canada.
Kenyans Wilson Kipsang and Mary Keitany sailed to a decisive victory win at the London Marathon today. By winning the race both Kipsang and Keitany virtually assured themselves of selection for the Olympic games on the national team.
Kipsang took control of the race at about six miles from the finishline, and ran alone to the finish to win in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 44 seconds.
"I knew when I went away they have to work very, very hard to beat me as I was feeling very good in myself," he said. "I am sorry I didn't (break) the record but winning is the most important thing for me. I feel a little tired now, but I am happy and tired."
Ishigaki, Japan (April 22, 2012) - Canada's Kathy Tremblay and France's David Hauss both claimed breakthrough ITU World Cup wins in Japan on Sunday. In the 17th consecutive year of the ITU World Cup event on this Japanese island, Tremblay claimed her first World Cup gold ahead of Ireland's Aileen Morrison. Tremblay's teammate Sarah-Anne Brault made it two Canadians on the podium. In the men's race, it was Hauss' first World Cup win and the other two podium spots were also filled by a pair of breakthrough performances - Italy's Davide Uccellari finished four seconds behind Hauss for silver while Gonzalo Raul Tellechea of Argentina took the bronze.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stanford sophomore Marissa Ferrante and UC Irvine graduate student Dustin McLarty outlasted nearly 1,300 competitors to take the overall titles at Saturday's USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.
Colorado claimed the overall team championship for the third consecutive year and also swept the men's and women's team titles. California raced to a convincing win in the first-ever collegiate draft-legal Mixed Team Relay to close the day.
A standout runner, Ferrante put together a complete race to cruise to victory on the women's side. She lifted the tape in 2 hours, 6 minutes, 28 seconds - more than five minutes clear of the field on the 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10-kilometer run course.
Duke's Jenny Shaughnessy was second overall in 2:11:48 to take the women's graduate title. Alabama-Birmingham graduate student Hallie Blunck rounded out the women's overall podium in 2:12:18.
