Last year Volkswagen scored a huge YouTube hit with their Star Wars themed Darth Vader Super Bowl commercial.
They did it, in part, by releasing the commercial early online on YouTube.
This year the other car manufactures took notice and of course they have also released their Super Bowl commercials early on YouTube....but not as early as Volkswagen which came out with their new teaser commercial almost a month before the 2012 Superbowl.
Why wait until Super Bowl Sunday when we have the Top 5 Superbowl car commercials for you right here?
Our our sister blog TFLcar.com picked the best Super Bowl car commercials for 2012 starting with number 5.
#5) Suzuki's Sled commercial features what seems to be this year's theme with the new batch of Super Bowl car commercials: Animals. Specifically dogs.
#4) Hyundai Veloster Turbo commercial continues the animal these with a clever Cheetah vs car drag race. Except that this Cheetah decides that drag racing a car is not worth his time or effort when tastier and easier to catch prey is nearby.
#3) Audi's Vampire commercial may not be about animals, that is unless you consider Vampires to be Animals, but this spot is funny and clever earning it the number 3 spot in our Top 2012 Super Bowl car commercials.
#2) The number 2 spot has to go to this just release Honda spot called "Matthew's Day Off" which recreates Ferris Bueller's Day Off with the new Honda CR-V. At first we though the spot was a bit of a "phone in" for Matthew Broderick but over time the commercial grows on you....sort of like the original movie...plus it features a stuffed panda getting down low.
#1) Volkswagen is back in the Super Bowl commercial game again with another Star Wars themed commercial that has already been viewed 10 million times on YouTube. The so called "The Bark Side" teaser commercials features...you guessed it...dogs in a cool rendition of the Dark Lords theme song from Star Wars.
