COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Triathlon today continued to expand its digital platform with the launch of a mobile version of usatriathlon.org designed to provide mobile device users with key features of the recently re-designed website.
The mobile version of the site is a significant component of the overall site build of usatriathlon.org, which was re-launched in October 2011. The site was developed in collaboration with Digitaria, a leading digital marketing and technology firm based in San Diego, Calif.
The mobile version of usatriathlon.org is optimized for mobile devices and loads more quickly than the full site would on these devices. While still providing access to the full site, the mobile version is a more streamlined platform providing access to key areas of the site for members.
When a user visits the site on a mobile device, the site automatically detects this and produces the mobile landing page. The mobile landing page contains a featured news item, membership login/sign-up, headlines and upcoming USA Triathlon events.
The mobile site is available on nearly all mobile devices. In addition, a version of the full site was created specifically for the iPad. A device "sniffer" will automatically detect the user's mobile device and render a mobile version of usatriathlon.org specifically for that device.
"The new mobile version of usatriathlon.org will be a key resource for today's on-the-go multisport athletes," said Chuck Menke, USA Triathlon Director of Marketing and Communications. "In addition to keeping up with USA Triathlon news, it's now easier for athletes to purchase an annual membership or log in to their account."
Additionally, the home menu of the mobile site includes membership, news, USA Triathlon events, Find a Local Race and Videos. Users will still have the ability to view the full site from a mobile device via a footer link, and USA Triathlon's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages are also accessible via the mobile footer.
USA Triathlon's completely revamped online platform provides a host of new and significantly enhanced features:
* Annual member personalization/single sign-on
* Improved navigation and design
* An enhanced multimedia library
* An engaged online community
* Sponsor real estate
* National event microsites
