James Lawrence is a man on a mission.
The amateur triathletes currently holds the Guinness World Record for the completing the most 70.3 races in 30 weeks. Now he has set his sites on the full Ironman Guinness World Record. He plans on finishing 30 IM races in 2012 to help raise money for famine relief in Africa.
James recently wrote us: "I have a big sponsor on board who will fund my project in 2012 if I get 15, 000 likes in 2 weeks on my facebook page. I want to prove to them how powerful the tri community is and how we get behind each other. Can you do a quick piece and call to action for people to like my facebook fan page. Check it out www.facebook.com/ironcowboy."
So if you want to see James break the record visit his facebook page and show your support.
According to his web site:
"In 2010 I set my first world record (Guinness World Record) by completing 22 Ironman 70.3 races in 30 weeks (read more about that experience here). I had help from a ton of great people and sponsors, met great athletes, heard a million incredible Ironman stories, and had a GREAT TIME. Along the way, I was able to make a difference through Quiet Way and my Tri and Give a Dam project.
But 2010 efforts just weren't enough! In 2012, I'm going to set ANOTHER WORLD RECORD by completing 30 FULL Iron Distance races! This is a monumental undertaking and I'll need all the help and support I can get to make it through the year. With your help, we'll not only set an unreachable world record, but we'll be able to make a BIG impact around the world for my cause."
