The sad rumor buzzing around Boulder, Colorado tonight is that three-time Ironman World Champion (and top favorite for this year's race) Chrissie Wellington crashed her bike today while training for the 2011 Ironman Championships, injured her elbow, and suffered serious road rash.
If the rumor is true (the questions people are wondering about are) 1. is she OK, 2. what happened, and number 3. are her injuries serious enough to keep her from competing in two weeks at the 2011 Ironman World Championships on October 8th in Hawaii?
We don't know the answer to those question, but what we do know is that Chrissie is one of the toughest triathletes in the world, and that she'll compete in Kona...if at all possible.
We'll keep you posted as we learn more about this rumor, but for now we wish Chrissie the best, and hope that she's able to compete at this year's Ironman World Championships.

As you may recall from THIS story Chrissie was unable to compete last year, and dropped out the morning of the big race because she was sick.
Chrissie has had her share of bad luck training on the bike over the last two years.
Once again please note that we have not confirmed this rumor, but we hope that if the rumor proves to be true the 3X World Champ is OK and still able to race for a fourth Ironman World Championship next month.
