American professional triathlete TJ Tollakson proved today that he has what it takes to be a IM champion by winning Ironman Lake Placid in a time of 8:25:15 ahead of defending champ, and second place finisher, American Ben Hoffman, and third place finisher Aussie Jason Shortis.
Tollakson dominated the race based on his 4:33:33 bike split which came within a few seconds of the course bike record.
On the women's side of the race it was Canadian Heather Wurtele who crushed the competition with a race best everything in a total time of 9:19:03...crossing the finish line way ahead of second place finisher Belgium triathlete Tine Deckers.
Rounding out the women's podium was American triathlete Tyler Stewart who crossed the finish line in 9:38:09.
