When you think of dramatic finish line moments in sports history, for triathletes, the first name that comes to mind is most likely Julie Moss. In 1982 she helped put Ironman on the world stage when ABC Sports cameras captured her attempt at the Hawaii Ironman and the moment known as “the crawl”.
One of the most recent crawls was during the 2010 Ironman Western Australia event. That’s when Kate Bevilaqua claimed her first Ironman victory after crawling across the finish line.
Harold Frobisher is a ‘Performance Physiologist’ and ‘Triathlon Coach’ in Boise, Idaho and a 7x Hawaii Ironman finisher. Harold was one of the people who helped carry Julie Moss once her fingers touched the line.
In the video below Dave Erickson spoke with Harold who recalls those dramatic moments. As a bonus you’ll also hear from Kate Bevilaqua talk about her experience doing the same.
