If you've ever wanted to swim, bike, and run in New York City for 140.6 miles....August 11th of 2012 is the day that you can live out your NYC Ironman dream.
That's the day that the inaugural Ironman U.S. Championships will be held in New York City.
The 24th Ironman race added to the annual Ironman long course race schedule will have 75 Kona World Championships slots, and will take place in both New York and New Jersey according to race organizers.
Bloomberg News News is reporting that:
"The event will begin with a 2.4-mile swim down the Hudson River. Competitors then will cycle 112 miles, beginning on the Palisades Parkway on the west side of the Hudson and ending in Fort Lee, New Jersey, after looping through New Jersey’s Bergen and New York’s Rockland counties. The race concludes with a 26.2-mile run from Fort Lee to Riverside Park in Manhattan.
The New York race will be staged in partnership with Korff Enterprises, which operates the Nautica NYC Triathlon at the Olympic distance of 31.9 miles."
A total of 2500 racers will have the opportunity to swim, bike and run through New York City.
Registration is set to open on June 15th so if you've ever wanted to to finish an Ironman race in the city that never sleeps...now is your chance.
