Luis Vargas is a very fast Ironman triathlete.
He's also a friend of EMT, and of course a a great coach with MarkAllenOnline.com.
He's also training to race the 2011 Ironman World Championships in Kona this year.
Like many Ironman age-group athletes, Luis is struggling with injuries as he ramps up his training to celebrate his 50th birthday with a trip to Hawaii in October to race in the oldest Ironman in the world.
Luis also has two kids and a business that need his constant attention outside of the time he spends simming, biking and running.
So like many age-group athletes, Luis is going to have to balance training, racing, family work, and of course his desire to go fast...really fast...at Kona this year.
In other words, Luis is an everyman triathlete (OK maybe a bit faster than your average guy). We'll be checking with him throughout the entire year as part of our Road to Kona with Luis video diary.
Take a look at part one below as Luis struggles with a foot issue.
