Is deep fried beer the ultimate recovery food and drink?

Every year at the Texas State Fair a few deep frying entrepreneurs come up with something goofy, unique, or crazy to fry up and enter into the annual state competition.

Do you recall deep fried coke?

This year the big frying buzz is all about deep friend beer.

According to the New York Daily News:

"Mark Zabel, inventor of deep-fried Texas treats including the chocolate-covered, strawberry waffle ball and jalapeno corndog shrimp, wanted to invent something that would blow away the competition at the state-wide cook-offs.

"We will be 'officially' presenting Fried Beer to the judges at the Big Tex competition on September 6, 2010," Zabel writes on the company’s website."

So of course we couldn't help but wonder if deep fried beer, which by the way looks like small ravioli, wouldn't make for the ultimate post race recovery food and drink...all in one.

Zabel is currently using Guinness, but we're pretty sure that he could swap out the Guinness for something more post race appropriate like...Gatorade.
