A Florida alligator that attacked a triathlete over the weekend has been captured. Authorities say the gator fits the size, location and behavior profile of the one that bite Doug McCard, a triathlete swimming in Lake Mary Jane in Moss Park near Orlando.
The captured alligator measured a huge 11 feet and 6 inches.

Experts warn that Florida alligators are dangerous at this time of year because they are searching for mates.
"This is a really testy time to be out and around in gator country," said Tim Williams, alligator expert."
"Quite often, an alligator hears something trashing or splashing around. They think it's some sort of prey item and go up and grab it," he added.
But it is also important to remember that alligator attacks are very rare.
"The drive to and from the lake is probably more dangerous than being attacked by an alligator," Williams told a local TV news channel recently.
Authorities say the captured alligator will be killed. The trapper who captured the alligator will process the meat and sell the hide.
