Over the years it has almost become a coveted ritual for some Ironman amatuer triathletes. When finishing an Ironman race many amateurs (and even some professional Ironman athletes) chose to celebrate and forever remember the accomplishment with a tattoo.
Specifically the M-DOT Tattoo that for many has become the symbol of being an Ironman, and completing the 140.6 miles of grueling physical endurance in under 17-hours.
But what if a Plain Jane M-DOT tattoo just won't do?
Tattooing has long been a classic form of body art so many choose to express themselves, their personality and accomplishment with a (shall we say) unique version of the classic M-DOT. The brand and trademark licensing lawyers over at the World Triathlon Corporation may not approve but what the hell...it's a just personal tattoo.
Here's a photo gallery of some of the more interesting M-DOT tattoo's (and we suspect some of the more interesting Ironman athletes to whom they belong) we found displayed for all to admire on the internet.
