To say Lance Armstrong had a bad day would be a real understatement.
The seven time Tour de France winner began his day categorically denying allegations by former teammate Floyd Landis that he cheated by using performance enhancing drugs, and ended his day in the hospital getting X-rays and stitches to his eye after being involved in a crash on a wet and slick road during the Amgen Tour of California.
"I tried to give it a go, but my eye was swollen so I couldn't see properly and the pain in the elbow prevented me from holding the bars for the remainder of the stage," Armstrong said in a team press release. "It was a relief to learn there were no breaks. I will take a few days to recover and be on the bike as soon as possible."
Armstrong also posted this photo on twitter and wrote:
"Just when I thought I couldn't get any uglier," referring to his eye and the Landis allegations.

RadioShack manager Johan Bruyneel said that the Landis situation did not cause Armstrong's crash.
"Crashes happen. And if somebody crashed in front of you ... " he said meaning that you can't control the situation.
For his part Armstrong described the Landis allegation as being all about credibility
"If there was one word I could walk away with that sums this all up it's 'credibility,'" Armstrong said. "Floyd lost his credibility a long time ago.
"You've got someone who's been under oath with a completely different version, someone who wrote a book with a completely different version. You have someone who took money from people -- $1 million -- for a defense with a different version. He has said he has no proof. It's his word versus ours ... and we like our word," he added.
