Two sisters with a passion for sports combined their interests to create a sports reference application for the Apple iPhone. Kat D’Angelo of Boulder, CO and Anne D’Angelo of Mountain View, CA started working on the app earlier this year with developers from Qantor Digital Entertainment LLC.

The app, “iSportsFan”, allows users to learn basic facts and fun trivia about top U.S. sports. iSportsFan includes all the major U.S. sports, baseball, basketball, cycling, football, golf, hockey, soccer, tennis, and even triathlon. This reference app provides:

Let's take the high road on this story that's burning up the triathlon internet this week.

By now you might be aware that professional Boulder based and Harvard educated triathlete and (let's be honest) hottie Jenna Shoemaker is in on eBay.

So you might be asking yourself (if you are new to this story) how can a triathlete be in eBay?

"Dinner in Vegas with Pro Triathlete Jenna Shoemaker" is the title of the auction and Jenna or somebody managing her career writes on eBay:

Athletes urged to have sex in order to perform better at sport

So the sport of cricket may not be on your top ten list of endurance sports but you might find this news interesting never-the-less.

India's cricketers at the Champions Trophy in South Africa are being urged by their coaches to have more sex to play better cricket and increase their sports performance.

In a leaked document circulated among the players the instructions could not be more clear with a chapter entitled "Does sex increase performance?"

Sometimes blogs "like this one" can be a bit snarky ;-)

But in all sincerity a huge congrats to Natalie Morales and Hoda Kotb are training for and completing the War at the Shore sprint triathlon this weekend in Long Branch, N.J., which consisted of a .4K swim, 9.5-mile bike race, and three-mile run.

You probably know that both Morales and Kotb as presenters from the Today Show.

What you don't know is that both are now officially triathletes.

Hot, and of course married, triathlete crowned Mrs. America

Everyone knows that you have to be hot to win a beauty pageant.

And it also helps to married if you plan on competing in the Mrs. America pageant.

But who would have thought that it also helps to be a triathlete?

But it certainly does help as Andrea Robertson, 32, is not only Mrs. Missouri and now the U.S. Mrs. America, but also a fast veteran triathlete with over 50 triathlons under her belt.

"Andrea stays active as a commercial/lifestyle model and as a triathlete. She is a member of the St. Louis Triathlon Club and Trismart USA and has competed in more than 50 triathlons, the longest of which was a half Ironman," according to Suburbanjournals.com.

Ryan Hall and Catherine Ndereba win Philadelphia Distance Run plus complete results

President of Athletics South Africa lied about Caster Semenya Gender Tests

A leaked email and now the cat is out of the bag.

The latest news from South Africa is that ASA President Leonard Chuene was aware of tests that showed that Caster Semenya was a bit more masculine than the typical runner and yet...

And yet he lied about it.

In fact the South Africa "team doctor requested the 18-year-old Semenya be withdrawn from the 800-meter race she ended up winning, Chuene said in a press conference.

Making Weight For a Race

It may not be the ideal situation, but it's happened to just about every triathlete, typically about 3-5 weeks before your big race. You step on the scale and...you're heavy.

Really heavy.

You panic. You're stuck between a rock and a hard place, because you can't just go on a very low calorie diet combined with even more training. Your race plan would suffer, you'd lose lean muscle, and you likely would get sick from a weakened immune system and poor recovery.

Philadelphia, PA. – September 17, 2009 – As the site of five World and three American records, the ING Philadelphia Distance Run is positioned for another historic performance in 2009. U.S. Olympian and American Half Marathon Record Holder, Ryan Hall, will lead the world-class field at the historic half-marathon on Sunday, September 20. The race will feature a live webcast on Competitor.com, beginning at 7:45 a.m. est.

“The ING Philadelphia Distance Run course record has stood a lot longer than we ever thought it would, since 1997,” said TV commentator Toni Reavis. “This year with the field Ryan Hall will have to contend with, and the ING New York City Marathon awaiting him on November 1st, he is in perfect position to supplant Khalid Khannouchi’s long-standing 60:27 time.”

Video: British Comedian Eddie Izzard finishes 43 marathons in 51 days

On a somewhat wet and gloomy day in London British Comedian Eddie Izzard ran his 43rd marathon in record time to circumnavigate Great Britain for charity.

The 47-year-old actor turned ultra runner almost broke 5-hours on his last marathon in 51 days as he crossed the finish line to a cheering crowd of well wishers.
