But you might recall the Coors Classic which is what the Red Zinger became in 1979.
Lance Armstrong certainly recalls that classic Colorado stage race and guess what?
He wants to revive it with the help of Colorado Governor Bill Ritter (seen here trukin' up and over some of Colorado biggest mountains during this year's Triple Bypass 120 mile bike ride) by 2011.
In its day the Coors Classic was the most influential bike race in America, and the seven time Tour de France champ (who now owns a home in Aspens) want to revive it.
Ritter and Armstrong recently met for two hours over lunch to discuss a way to bring stage racing back to the Colorado Rockies.
While no specific plans or sponsors have been announced the idea of a new Coors Classic is making the hearts of many longtime cyclist beat with excitement.
