"A champion, a gentleman, a loyal and devoted family man, this is how I have always felt about and will always remember Steve.
He left a trail of inspiration wherever he went.
Even when he moved from Davis to Bend his energy an spirit remained in
so many of us who had the honor to train and to work with him.
To this day I remember every piece of advice he generously gave me. He
had a way of planting a seed in your mind that you could be great at
what you do, as long as you believe in what you are doing.
My favorite thing about Steve was seeing the love and joy in his eyes
when he talked about his family. He would talk about his amazing wife
and how he hoped he could keep up with his kids snowboarding.
The title of champion transcended every aspect of his life.
He will be missed, but his trail of inspiration will always be there.
