According to the study Florida beat heavily populated California and New York for the dubious title of having the greatest number of bicycle deaths in the United States.
Proving that fast and competitive running is not just a sport for the young, 52-year-old Joan Benoit Samuelson battled heavy winds to win the Oklahoma City Memorial Half Marathon in a time of 1:21:57.
"I am so happy to win here and redeem myself from my last visit here to Oklahoma City in 2007. When I competed here two years ago, I had a severe plantar fasciitis problem that day, which I worsened by staying on the course and finishing the race." Samuelson said.
"I never DNF'ed (did not finish) a race in my career, and I wasn't going to quit in OKC back then because of the cause for running the race.

It was very long time ago that Lance Armstrong rode for a bike shop.
In the early days of his triathlon career he was sponsored by a local Texas bike shop.
Now he's gone full circle. Because of UCI (the governing body of professional cycling) rules Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer and Chris Horner are once again riding for a bike shop.
But this time it is Armstrong's own bike shop, Mellow Johnny's, and to keep in "old school" the boys are riding for free---OK they got some gear.
We thought that you we'd let you spot this one on your own, but the sweet sweet irony of the new June swimsuit issue of Triathlete Magazine with the cover story asking, "Body Image Are Triathletes Obsessed" next to Stacy Kamano's rock hard abs is just too easy of a target---even for us.
You've probably heard of cyclist getting hit by stuff thrown from cars.
This is usually small stuff like change, empty beer cans and/or perhaps other forms of garbage or trash that are readily available to a driver with a dangerous combination of too much road rage and too little respect.
But now the news from China tops all of that in the ultimate cycling news of the weird.
16-year-old Wu Dan, 16 was riding his bike when he was knocked out, and we're betting pretty darn surprised as well, by a corpse thrown from a speeding car.
A new Colorado bill that would give bicyclist greater protection from aggressive drivers in on the way to the governor's desk.
The new bill, which mandates that cars give cyclist at least three feet when passing and allows cars to cross the double yellow in order to do so, has been approved by the state legislature and in expected to be signed by the governor.

Frenchman Alain Bernard recently set the 100 meter freestyle world record with a time of 46.94-second.
That time smashed the record set by Australian Eamon Sullivan at the Beijing Games
last year.
But now Australia's head swim coach is crying foul because the swimsuit Bernard was a prototype suit pending approval from swimming
authorities.
"I think it would set a dangerous precedent if this was
approved and everyone will be watching it," Alan Thompson told
The Australian newspaper on Monday.
Levi Leipheimer and Lance Armstrong will not compete in the New Mexico's Tour of Gila as rumored and reported HERE because the International Cycling Union (UCI) will not permit it.
The UCI has a policy rule barring ProTour teams from competing in lower-tier events and according to VeloNews the agency will not allow Astana to race the Tour of Gila.
"Astana's Chris Horner told VeloNews on Monday that the team's
Levi Leipheimer and Lance Armstrong will not compete in the New Mexico

The life of a professional triathlete is not as glamorous as it might seem.
A few months ago Roman Mica chatted with Boulder, CO based Mark VanAkkeren (AKA Marky V) about racing career and what's it is like to be a pro triathlete. You can listen to that interview HERE.
This weekend Marky V looked like a winner at St. Anthony's Triathlon when he rocked the very rough swim (coming out of the water first) only to....we'll let him tell the story.
A major issue among Ironman and ultra-enduarnce athletes is that many
individuals use the rigors of training to justify a diet that is incredibly
calorie dense (usually 2000+ calories per day above the average person) and
high in foods that can cause damage to the immune system,
the heart, the hormones and overall health...not to mention causing frequent
run diversions into the woods and saddle shifting in the bike due to
bloating, gas or diarrhea.
Olympic champion Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya won the London marathon in a new course record time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 10 seconds in sunny and still conditions.
He was followed by Tsegay Kebede of Ethiopia, who finished 10 seconds behind in second.
Jaouad Gharib of Morocco, second at last year's Olympics, was third in
2:05:27.
"Defending champion Martin Lel withdrew Saturday after
failing to recover from a hip injury, ending his bid to become the
first man to win the London race four times."
