Last month we broke the news of a new Ironman race in Utah.
Today according to the web site Trihive.com: "Washington County and World Triathlon Corporation will be conducting a press conference on Wednesday, March 18, 2008 at Town Square in St. George, Utah to announce North America’s newest Ironman event - Ford Ironman St. George."
In an exclusive story first reported here, "The race will be a qualifier for the big one in Hawaii," said St. George City manager Gary Esplin.
The swim will take place in Sand Hollow and the bike portion of the race will go through the town of Gunlock, according to Esplin. The run portion of the Ironman will finish in the city center of St. George. The race is slated to take place the first Saturday of May 2010
St. George is in Washington County, Utah and has a population of about seventy five thousand residents.
The city is located in the Southwest corner of Utah next to Zion National Park.
The city is also home to the St. George Marathon which is scheduled to take place in October of this year.
