For those of are sick of hearing about Michael Phelps and his bong hit seen around the world, there is some potential bad news.
All indications point to the possible fact that Michael Phelps may be about to make another big splash in the world, but this time for an all together more dubious reason.
A very recent AP report says, "A defense lawyer in South Carolina says police in the county where Michael Phelps was photographed smoking from a marijuana pipe have been arresting people as they seek to make a case against the superstar swimmer."
In other words, the police are in the process of potential dotting their "i's" and crossing their "t's" before they issue an arrest warrant for the Beijing Olympics swimming superstar.
It should be noted that Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has been on the blunt end of criticism by those who believe he should focus on more serious crimes.
However, Lott recently told the Press he couldn't ignore the violation captured in the picture just because Phelps is rich and famous.
The AP goes on to report that the Richland County Sheriff's Office remains mum on the case, saying only that it is still investigating the case. "As soon as we're ready to release information on this case we will," says Lt. Chris Cowan.
It should be noted that Phelps recently canceled an IBM speaking engagement, and apologized to the Chinese people on a video broadcast by the Chinese news agency in order to keep his lucrative Mazda endorsement in China.
