The running community is in shock after a 29-year-old experienced runner and newly web bride died this weekend at the Dallas White Rock Marathon.
Authorities are still investigation the cause of death however Post Chronicle is reporting that:
"Erin Lahr is a 29-year-old Austin woman
who was running the Dallas White Rock Marthon collapsed and died 3
miles from the finish line. In this 39 year old race she has been the
first person to die from it. Erin Lahr was a young, experience long
distance runner and to top it off...she was a newlywed.
The cause of death is still being examined as many people are
saddened by the loss of such a fine athlete. Three miles from the
Dallas White Rock Marathon finish line she fell and was picked up and
carried to the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas which was was
but a block or two away from her." According to Associated Content: "Those nearby caught her as she stumbled and were able to converse with
her until she quickly lost consciousness and grew cold. Those
surrounding Lahr attempted CPR. Witnesses asked with great urgency
where the ambulance for Lahr was, and police arriving at her side were not equipped with a defibrillator.
Aside
from being a gifted athlete, beloved daughter, and new bride, Erin Lahr
was also an educated and successful woman. She worked in the Civil
Engineering industry in the Austin area as a Project Engineer, according to her profile at LinkedIn.
She was a graduate of LSU where she received her Bachelor's in
Environmental Engineering in 2001, and later, her Master's, says
Flatman. She was formerly a native of Lafayette, Louisiana."
