I completed my B-Fit B-Day Challenge yesterday with a fun swim at my local recreation center to earn Bronze.
Six days after I began the B-Fit Challenge I swam my last 50 yards to celebrate my heath, fitness, and my 45th B-Day.
It began with a 72-mile ride last weekend that you can read about HERE. I was really hoping to go for Gold this year, but several small issues got in the way.

What would it be like to have started your triathlon career at the age of 13 in the sun-trenched country of Australia and spent your entire life traveling around the world racing?
Every summer some of the best Australian triathletes come to Boulder to train and race here in the Mecca of triathlon. They come here because the weather is good, the company is better, and there is triathlon in the water.

Testing the Garmin Forerunner 305 by Nancy Toby
My training buddy David kindly let me borrow his Garmin Forerunner 305 and I tested it out on our local high school track. It's a wrist unit that combines readings for time, position via GPS, and heart rate (with chest strap). I was able to get it up and running quickly with just a few glances through the manual.
For the most part I’m a pragmatist and a realist. I don’t believe in anecdotal evidence, I don't believe in the Loch Ness Monster, or that anybody has ever been abducted by alien’s and anally probed, or that Elvis is still alive, or that the Da Vinci Code is anything but clever fiction.
But here's something that you may not know about me...I believe in luck. I believe in luck because I have it. I have parking luck.
My parking luck is the ability to find a parking space as close as possible to whatever place I’m going. For instance if I need fish food I’ll always get the space just in front of the local PetSmart.
In the next few weeks, this web site will bring you a new feature...EverymanTri Gear Reviews using the new rating scale below. To get started below are a few a brief reviews of some of the gear I personally use:
EveryMan "Gotta Have" Latte Rating Scale:
Rating Scale (based on the amount of lattes per day you'll give up to buy this product)
4 Lattes: A must have product that will make your friend's jealous and your competitors cower in undisguised fear and trepidation
I only had one advantage, one small window of opportunity to catch them, and I was going to make it count.
After all it was just one of those perfect days when the sun was warm without scorching the skin, the breeze was pushing softly against my sweaty body like a gentle caress, and the bike, Oh my God, did the bike feel fast.
I was at about mile 42 (or about 30 miles from home) when the four girls I know from the local Boulder women's bike team passed me on a gentle uphill. These young women were fit and buff...Boulder buff.

In America today so much of our food is filled with sugar. Do you know that the average American consumes more than 150 pounds of sugar every year? Cavemen used to consume 20-30 teaspoons in a lifetime! Sugar is everywhere in our society. Not only in the traditional baked goods but companies also slip it in to things like ketchup, salad dressing, breads and soups. The more you sugar you eat, the more you typically want.
Last week I brought you 20 reason to watch and not watch the Olympics.
Number 20 was, "It's sad and disheartening to watch prepubescent
girls dressed up like women, as part of a state sponsored program by
the Chinese to blatantly cheat and break the rules."
This weekend Ironman Canada will test some of the best triathletes in the world. Those who say that it is one of the best Ironman races in the world.
When it all goes well, Graham Fraser is one of the most popular people at the Ironman. In fact he's at almost every Ironman race, but unless you know him, you'd probably think he's just another age grouper getting ready to run the race of his life.
